Captivate’s Principal Kevin Carpenter is an Independent Legal and Sports Consultant with experience
across a broad range of disciplines including regulatory, intellectual property, dispute resolution,
anti-corruption, competition and commercial. He has worked in a number of sectors such as sport,
betting and gaming, financial services, media and retail.
Having trained at a silver circle London city law firm he then worked at a small and a medium sized
law firm which gave him great exposure to a broad range of clients and experience, far in excess of
what you would expect of a lawyer and advisor who is yet to reach 30. His business background and
relationships with people means he has a unique skill set and proven track record of winning
business and retaining clients with repeat instructions.
He has independently sought to work outside the law and has done so successfully as a business
advisor to a market leading international sports law digital media and events business, non-
executive director to two organisations and academic lecturer.
His expertise, knowledge and manner has led him to be make regular appearances internationally
delivering presentations and commenting in the media on topical issues. In addition his research and
writing is published across a variety of forums.
Outside of his primary passion for the many and varied aspects of his work, his other passion which
has great relevance to his professional career in terms of communication and performing under
intense pressure and scrutiny is his seven years as a football referee, tutor and mentor and now as a
rugby union referee.
